Three games survive the wet weekend!

League One

The only main stream game to survive the wet weather was Daten v Wythenshawe Town which saw the sides battle it out in difficult conditions. Despite the cold and rain, the game was played in good spirits and the teams were a credit to the league with not one yellow card required to control the game.

Wythenshawe were quick off the mark and opened the scoring in the 5th minute through a Jimmy Green strike. This was followed up with Green's second in the 33rd minute after some brilliant play by midfielder Niall Rhodes. Green grabbed his hat trick in the 42nd minute as Daten struggled to contain a strong Wythenshawe attacking force.

The away side started the second half with the same pace and before long it was 4-0 when Green chipped Lewis Reid in the Daten net from 25 yards to increase his tally. This seemed to kick start Daten into action and a tactical change to move Jack Hodgkiss from right back to centre forward paid dividends when he scored in the 64th minute with a great strike.

Wythenshawe reacted well and two minutes later Mo Sangare restored their four goal lead but Daten pushed on and Dean Jennings pulled another goal back, this time from the penalty spot after being fouled in the area. Three minutes later, Jennings was in action again as he sent a free kick crashing into the top corner from 20 yards out to make it 5-3.

The final goal came late into stoppage time when Lee Hargreaves hit a free kick from ten yards inside the Daten half that looked to have been saved by Reid but the Daten keeper couldn't grasp the ball and he could only watch as it trickled across the line to give Wythenshawe a 6-3 victory.

Reserve League Two

West Didsbury & Chorlton A sit in fourth place, a point behind Middlewich Town following their 6-3 win away at Wythenshawe Town. Carlton Jones and Wraxal Adam scored the goals for Wythenshawe.

The other game saw Mersey Valley Development share the points with Cuddington in a 2-2 draw. Cuddington now sit three points above bottom place Golborne Sports, with Mersey Valley two points above them.
