Who, how, where and when...

President’s Cup.

League Two side, Cuddington, beat Poynton Reserves by two goals to one at Norley Road. Goals from Kieran Wakefield and Richard Bettley gave the home side all three points in this group stage clash.

Strugglers, Malpas Reserves, lost in dramatic fashion to a dominant Middlewich Town side who put nine past them away from home to take all three points back to Seddon St. A quartet of goals from Sam Wakefield, plus single goals from George Hopkins, Chris Lunn, Kyle Wilding, Darren Connell and player-manager Ross Speight, gave Town the victory at Wrexham Road.

Rylands Reserves won the battle of the reserve sides as they beat Wythenshawe Town’s development squad at Ericstan Park. The visitor’s goals came via James Daniels and Calum Anderson.

JA Walton Challenge Cup

St Helens defeated Orford in a superb showing at home, winning by five goals to nil. The Saints were four goals up by the halfway mark, before getting a fifth in the second half. Goals from Paul Sweeney, Lee Deakin (2), Liam Houghton and Will Threlkeld move the competition’s most northern remaining side, into the semifinals as they take on Warrington Town Reserves in March, with the winner playing either Cheadle Town Reserves or Broadheath Central in the final.

Reserve Divisions Challenge Cup

Linotype Cheadle and AFC Macclesfield’s wins this weekend mean that there will be an all-Stockport final in the Reserve Divisions Challenge Cup this season.

Linotype Cheadle beat Garswood United away from home by four goals thanks to a Tom Cavanagh hat-trick and a single Troy Hayden goal. AFC Macclesfield beat Styal at Altrincham Road by three goals to one – Matt Horton, Nathan Jackson and Lee Quintan with the goals for Macc.

The final will be played on Wednesday 5 April 2017 at Barnton FC. The game is a 19:45 kickoff. Ticket prices will be announced in due course.
