Ashton Seal Their Final Four Place

It was a weekend of little action as weather causes havoc once more!

Premier Division:
In the JB Parker Premier Division Challenge Cup, Ashton Town were able to put three goals past home side Billinge FC, with Jamie Noonan, Jamie McCartney, And John Edgerton all getting on the score sheet as Ashton move on in the Cup.

League One:
League action saw Golborne Sports grab a 1-0 win away to Deva Athletic, leaving Golborne four points bottom side Cheadle Reserves. Third place Egerton FC played out an exciting, end to end match with visiting team Lostock Gralam as they came out 4-3 winners at. The main attraction for league table followers this weekend was a top of the table clash between Pilkington FC and Daten. Although playing on their own pitch, Pilkington succumbed to a 2-0 defeat by the new table-toppers. Goals from Adam Mcloughlin and Ryan Duffy were enough for Daten on the day.
AFC Macclesfield in the Stockport DFA Challenge Cup Quarter Final and ran away resounding winners after beating Stockport Georgians 6-2, putting Macclesfield through to the Semi Final.
Mid Cheshire District Cup Quarter Final was another end to end affair between two attack-minded sides in Middlewich Town and Winsford Saxons. Middlewich got the better of their visitors on the day winning 4-1, George Hopkins and Sam Wakefield each scored two goals.
In the JA Walton Challenge Cup fixture between Winstanley Warriors and Mersey Valley ended in the visitor’s favour with a score line of 3-1 as Daniel Watling bagged two goals, and Kyle Denton added a third for Valley.

League Two:
With only Cup action for fans in League Two, it was great to have two fixtures that turned out to be great games. One being the Winstanely Warriors Mersey Valley JA Walton Cup game. The other being in the Mid Cheshire District Quarter Final with a clash between Cuddington FC and Winford Over 3 Grange. It was all level at 2-2 when the full time whistle sounded, but a flurry of late goalmouth action saw Cuddington secure a 4-3 victory. .

Reserve Division:
The Reserve Division also only featured two fixtures, both coming in the form of league matches. Denton Town Reserves moved into second place with their win on the road against Daten FC reserves. The match ended 3-4 with Denton’s Andy Lee grabbing a pair of goals. Elsewhere, 5th placed Pilkington Reserves battled a middle of the road Poynton Reserves to a nine goal thriller. Pilkington barely came out alive as they were able to win 5-4 in front of home fans.
