Goals, goals and more goals...

Premier Division

Garswood United remain fixed at the bottom the Premier Division following their 0-8 thrashing at the hands of Knutsford. United sit on just 8 points, two behind Styal, after this result.

Knutsford displayed their dominance early on, with the visitors up by four at half-time. Two hat-tricks (from Owens and Crellin-Myers) plus goals from Butler and Lynch made it eight for Knutsford who now sit in fourth, just a point behind Altrincham Reserves.

Linotype Cheadle are looking to regain their top spot after they play all their games in hand, a win over Malpas at home has certainly helped them on their way. The Stockport locals have five games in hand over Whaley Bridge at the top and sit thirteen points behind. So, if all goes in Nomads’ favour, they would go top once they pull level in terms of games played.

Poynton beat Denton Town by three goals to one at home, their goals coming through Rick Tindall, Nick Challinor and Ashley Crank. The result moves Poynton above Denton in the league table. Altrincham FC Reserves took all three points from their tie with Rudheath Social. The Robins won 2-5 at The Park Stadium, keeping them in third and moving closer to Wythenshawe on second.

League One

A top-of-the-table clash between Warrington Town Reserves and Billinge saw Billinge move to within six points of the leaders with a 1-2 win. The visitors came from 1-0 down at half-time to come away with the spoils. Billinge have the possibility of going joint top if they win their two games in hand.

Mersey Valley were humbled when they travelled east to Stockport Sports Village as they took on AFC Macclesfield. It was the home side who came out on top with eight goals under the floodlights. This is sure to be a game the Urmston locals will quickly want out of their memory as Macclesfield proved too much for Valley on the day.

Egerton and West Didsbury & Chorlton Reserves gave us a thrilling game, with the home side coming out victorious in a nine goal thriller. Their six goals came through Charlie Anderson, Andy Brown, Rory Pownell, Chris Trowbridge and Oliver Hewitt (x2).

Grappenhall Sports were no match for Pilkington on Saturday as the visitors put away seven goals against the bottom of the league side at Grappenhall Sports Village. This result moves Pilkington up to third.

Cheadle Town Reserves continued their poor form as they lost 6-1 away at Middlewich Town. The Witches’ six goals came via a George Hopkins hattrick, a Sam Wakefield brace and a single Callum Priestley goal.

The final game in League One was relatively quiet compared to the others, but saw Tarporley Victoria and Halebank draw 1-1. This result leaves both sides towards the foot of the table, although neither side really had any places to gain (both have a number of games in hand over the rest of the league).

League Two

With the game between Windle Labour and Deva Christleton postponed, Unicorn Athletic were in with a chance of going top of the league. However, this opportunity wasn’t taken as they lost 1-2 at home to Orford. They remain just one point behind the leaders.

Maine Road Reserves came out on top in a seven goal thriller against Moore United in Chorlton on Saturday, moving them out of the grasp of Barnton Reserves at the bottom of the table for one more week.
Winstanely Warriors beat Cuddington in an entertaining game that saw Warriors win by one goal in a five goal affair. Both sides remain comfortably in midtable.

The final game this weekend was a 2-2 draw between Sandbach United Reserves and Ford Motors which has little impact on the overall league table this week.
