Premier Division

Wythenshawe Town, Linotype Cheadle Heath Nomads and Whaley Bridge have really begun to build a gap from the rest of the pack following this week’s fixtures. Town stay top on 23 points following an impressive 4-2 victory over local rivals Altrincham FC Reserves at Ericston Park thanks to a MOTM performance from Marano, who picked up 2 goals.

Nomads are just a point behind after their 0-3 win away at Styal which comes courtesy of goals from Kayle Power x2 and Rio Heyes. Whaley Bridge beat Rudheath Social 2-1 at Horwich Park to move onto 21 points and are now 5 points ahead of the next closest side, Congleton Vale.

Denton Town were unable to beat Knutsford at home this week as they lost 1-2. Knutsford’s goals came through David Owens X2 whilst the Tameside locals’ goal came via Callum McGlynn. This result means that Knutsford overtake Denton in the league with just a point separating. Poynton came out on top in 10 goal thriller, winning 6-4. The result means that the home side are within reach of the top three, should they win their two games in hand.

League One

Egerton and Grappenhall Sports played out an entertaining game which featured 7 goals. Egerton came out on top after leading 3-0 at half-time. The away side fought bravely to pull back a draw but their efforts were in vain as Egerton take all three points.

FC St Helens and AFC Macclesfield split the spoils as they drew 1-1 at Windleshaw Road.
The Merseyside natives couldn’t capitalise on the fact that the majority of the competition at the top of the table weren’t playing and find themselves in third place, level on points with Billinge and Mersey Valley despite having played more games.

Mersey Valley took on league leaders, Warrington Town Reserves and came away with a 2-2 draw meaning that Billinge and the aforementioned Mersey Valley could go top if results go their way in their two games in hand.

League Two

Broadheath Central defeated Windle Labour in an enthralling game that finished 4-2. This victory moves Broadheath level on points with their opponents at the top of the table with 16 points. The home side finish the week top with a superior goal difference.

Unicorn Athletic came back from a goal down at half-time to beat Cuddington AFC 3-4 at Norley Road. The Northwich side were 3-2 up at half time but were unable to hold their lead over their visitors. Athletic’s goals came from Adam Groves, Lee Hendley, Chris Howarth and Ian Taylor.

Reserve League One

Despite not leading the Premier Division, Linotype Cheadle Heath Nomads do top one league in the Cheshire FL. Their reserve side are three points clear of Greenalls PSO Reserves in second following a 2-1 victory over Rylands Reserves through goals from Troy Hayden and Spencer Cunliffe.

Knutsford ‘A’ stay ahead of their opponents, Daten Reserves, in the league following their 2-2 draw this weekend.

Reserve League Two

Mersey Valley Development Squad finish the week at the top of the league and maintain their 100% record as they beat Malpas Reserves 1-4 as the league’s highest goalscorers took on a Malpas side that are struggling for form. Pilkington are trying to close the gap between themselves and the top two as they defeated AFC Denton 1-6 away from home to put them on ten points, five off the top.

Wythenshawe Town’s Reserves carried their strong form from the first team into their game with Golborne Sports Reserves as they won 2-3 at Simpson Playing Fields.

The final game of the weekend took place at Crosfields Recreation Club as Moore United Reserves fell victim to a 1-4 defeat to FC St Helens Reserves, a game that leaves the away side in fourth place on nine points.
