Grappenhall Appoint female coach

By Kat McEvoy

League history in the making

Grappenhall Sports have made Cheshire League history by being the first team to appoint a female coach.

Becky Pilkington is the new addition to Dave Schofield’s first team management set up. She is 28 years old and is employed as a full-time football coach by the FA. She holds a UEFA B coaching badge and is aiming to begin her A Licence programme next year. Becky also holds her Youth Modules and is a qualified Futsal coach. Becky has been involved in football for over 20 years and has experience of coaching in football league academies. She is a regular face at St Georges Park and is now using her experience at Grappenhall in both mid-week training sessions and on match days.

Becky will become an important member of the back room staff at Grappenhall and they value her opinion very highly. She has the ability to see things on a football pitch that others miss and has already offered some very valuable contributions. Manager Dave Schofield rates her as one of the best signings he’s made this close-season and is looking forward to working with her for a long time to come.
