Crewe celebrated a victory as they beat Garswood United 3-1 at home through goals from Mike Evans and brothers Simon and Carl Everall.

Malpas sit in fifth place following a six goal thriller at home against Gamesley that saw the sides finish three a piece. The game started with pace as Malpas took an early lead after good link up play between Andy Morris and Eddy Barlow before Morris beat the defence to heading the ball over the onrushing Gamesley keeper.

Both teams moved the ball quickly with some good football played, the front lines worked the space well with the Malpas defence being continually moved around. The game was level after 25 when Conner Tinsley was left watching as Gamesley hit a shot from 25 yards and sent it crashing into the corner of the net.

The game continued at a good pace with half chances coming for both teams and Gamesley looked very dangerous at corners due to the quality of the delivery. At the other end Chris Bevan saw a header hit the bar and the rebound was saved by the keeper after an Andy Morris shot. Malpas took the lead again on 39 minutes when a good passing move saw Morris crossing in for Alex Hughes to head home after directing the ball passed the keeper.

Gamesley came out strongly in the second half and took the game to Malpas, pressing back the defence, still causing them problems on the corners. Gamesley drew level again after 75 minutes when a shot took a massive deflection giving Tinsley no chance of reaching it. The pressure from corners finally told with 10 minutes remaining when poor marking gave Gamesley the lead.

Malpas reacted and pushed to get back in the game and were rewarded six minutes later when Chris Bevan headed home for 3-3.

Maine Road Reserves sneaked a 2-1 home win over Middlewich Town to get their first points in group A. The game started at a very even pace with both sides cancelling each other out. Middlewich were unlucky not to take the lead in the 28th minute when the left back made a good run down the wing before cutting inside. Jack Shiels made the challenge but the ball fell kindly for the number 10 who was unlucky to see his shot hit the post before being cleared to safety. At the other end Maine Road then also came close to breaking the deadlock as a Tommy Johnson corner met the run of Zach Gatward at the near post but after a good first touch his shot went wide.

Middlewich took the lead seven minutes after the restart when a defensive mistake allowed the shot to filter through just out of reach of the Maine Road keeper but soon after the home side were back on level term when Patrick Walsh fed the ball through to Sam Barnett who held off the centre half and slotted calmly past the keeper for 1-1.

Maine Road clinched the win with eight minutes remaining when Adam Savill picked up a pass from Joel Senior out on the wide right. He cut back inside and made his run across the back four on the edge of the box waiting for a gap to appear, eventually he found one and hit a superb left footed shot across his body forcing the Middlewich keeper into another impressive save but Aeron Woodman was alert and reacted quickly to smash the rebound into the back of the net.

Group C saw Warrington Town Reserves fly to the top after a convincing 9-1 win away at Mersey Valley, while Egerton sneaked a 1-0 win over Pilkington as Ashley Wells hit home.

After Reece Hearne making a goal line clearance Moore United looked to push forward but the 27th minute saw Billinge take the lead as the number 7 beat Gallagher to slot home. Despite some good Moore chances from Willets and Holt, Billinge scored twice in three minutes to take a 3-0 lead into the break.

Moore started the second half the brighter side as a Bradbury free kick found Kyle Gallagher on the left who flicked the ball on to Chaddock. He let the ball run past him before playing in Joe Holt who slotted past the keeper for 3-1. Two minutes later Billinge restored their three goal lead but Moore refused to give up and were rewarded in the 88th minute when Chaddock completed an overhead bicycle kick to make it 4-2.
