Premier Division

This week saw two sets of fixtures in the Premier Division. The midweek games, taking place on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the weekend games which all took place on Saturday.
Whaley Bridge took their third consecutive win this campaign with goals from Tom Scorer and Will Bailey giving them a 2-1 victory over Denton Town. Styal found themselves on the receiving end of a 2-0 defeat to local rivals Wythenshawe Town, with a brace from Town's MOTM Antonio Dinchin giving Wythenshawe all three points. Linotype Cheadle HN took the spoils in what was, arguably, the game of the night, a 5-2 victory over Rylands, which saw goals from McGregor, Power x3 and Yuille give Nomads the win. Congleton Vale, Altrincham FC Reserves and Greenalls PSO also took victories from Poynton (2-0), Eagle Sports (1-3) and Garswood (1-2) respectively.

Two big-score results came on Wednesday night as both Crewe and Knutsford showed their prowess. Crewe picked up a 5-0 win over Malpas, with goals from Abramowicz, Burden, Smith and two from Southern to pick up their first win of the 2016-17 campaign. Knutsford's 4-0 victory came at the expense of Rudheath Social, with the victors taking home all three points through goals from Lee, Pearce and Pickford x2.

Saturday's games saw over 30 goals this weekend, nine of which came in a game between Rudheath Social who bounced back from their midweek defeat to Knutsford and took the spoils in a 5-4 victory over Malpas thanks to goals from Evans, Humphries, Rowlands and Warburton x2. Knutsford cemented their place at the top of the table as they beat Garswood United 4-0 at home to keep their 100% record alive. Two other sides kept their 100% records as Whaley Bridge, after beating Greenalls PSO, and Wythenshawe Town, who took three points away at Denton, both recorded victories this weekend to keep them level on points with leaders Knutsford.

Altrincham FC Reserves picked up three points again local side Poynton thanks to two goals from Harry Cain, Crewe beat Rylands in a five goal thriller that finished 3-2 and Linotype Cheadle HN kept their 100% record at home alive with a 1-0 victory over Congleton Vale. Styal beat Eagle Sports 2-0 with goals from Jones and Roberts. This week closes with a tie at the top of the table with Knutsford, Whaley Bridge and Wythenshawe all on 12 points.

League One

This week saw goals galore in League One too. On Tuesday, we saw the only goalless draw in League One all week as Tarporley Victoria and Lostock Gralam cancelled each other out. AFC Macclesfield and Moorfield both picked up 2-1 victories against Egerton and Halebank respectively, the second being a Widnes Cup victory. The other fixture on Tuesday was a high scoring affair, with Warrington Reserves beating Daten 4-2 away from home to get their first win of the campaign.

Wednesday and Thursday also saw games take place. On Wednesday, both Cheadle Town Reserves and Mersey Valley managed to pull off 3-2 victories, with Cheadle beating West Didsbury and Chorlton Reserves and Mersey Valley beating Middlewich Town. Pilkington managed to take all three points from Billinge, with the home team's goal both coming in the first half thanks to Taylor and Clark. Billinge managed to pull one back through Wolhuter but it wasn't enough to save them a point. FC St Helens and Golborne Sports found themselves both taking away a point from their encounter as the drew 1-1. Thursday saw another goalfest as Grappenhall Sports beat Halebank 5-3 in an eight goal thriller.

The weekend saw more even more goals as Warrington Town Reserves thrashed AFC Macclesfield 5-1 away from home to give them their second win of the season. Billinge pushed themselves to top of the table with a 1-0 victory over Cheadle Town Reserves thanks to a goal from Paul Doherty. FC St. Helens beat Daten in a 4-1 victory at home to move up to fourth in the league. Middlewich Town managed to recover from two goals down to get a draw with Golborne Sports through goals from Sam Wakefield and a 94th minute equiliser from Oliver Tobin. Halebank and Mersey Valley also recorded victories over Egerton and Tarporley Victoria respectively.

League Two

League Two played host to 11 games this week. Two sides managed to pull off 5-1 victories in midweek, Broadheath Central who managed to beat Maine Road Reserves and Cuddington who recorded a win over Barnton Reserves. Windle Labour's 3-1 victory away at Winstanley Warriors saw them continue their fine run of form and keep their 100% record this campaign. Moore United took the spoils in a 4-2 win at home to Orford FC in what was the away side's first game this season. The final midweek game saw Deva Christleson beat Ford Motors 3-0 thanks to goals from Sean Robinson, Thomas Craig and Luke Jones.

Game of the week goes to the fixture between AFC Denton and Ford Motors. The home side's first game of the season saw them lose 4-10 to a Ford Motors side that had yet to record a victory in their two previous games of the campaign.

Two sides finished the week on nine points, Windle Labour, who recorded a 3-2 win over Maine Road Reserves and Broadheath Central who beat Cuddington away from home by 3 goals to nil. Winstanely Warriors and Sandbach United Reserves played out an entertaining 3-3 draw which saw the away side comeback from being three down at half time. Deva Christleson beat Moore United 0-4 in a game that featured goals from David Suddaby, two from Sean Robinson and one from substitute Ilya Haycock. The only other game to take place over the weekend in League Two was an away victory for Unicorn Athletic who beat Barnton Reserves 3-0 in what was the home team's second heavy defeat in a week.

Reserves League One

Denton Town Reserves were the high scorers this week, taking 13 goals from their two away fixtures. 11 of these came at the expense of Linotype CHN Reserves who only managed to pull back one goal in their 11-1 defeat to the Tameside club. Denton's other two goals came in a draw away at Daten Reserves on Saturday. Daten's other fixture that week came in the form of a 5-1 win away at Rylands Reserves.

Styal's Reserve side didn't have the best of weeks, starting on Thursday in a 2-0 home loss to Eagle Sports Reserves and then losing 3-0 at Garswood United Reserves. Eagle Sports' other fixture this week was at home to Knutsford 'A' where they let their 1-0 lead slip and came away with a point in a game which finished 1-1. However Eagle Sports weren't the only team to let a half-time lead slip this week. On Thursday night, the aforementioned Knutsford 'A' lost 3-2 to Greenalls PSO Reserves despite leading the game 2-1 at half-time. The one other game this week saw Poynton Reserves beat Rylands Reserves 2-0 at home through two goals from Jack Roberts.
Reserve League Two

Without a doubt, the league with the most high-scoring games in the Cheshire Football League this week was the Reserves League Two, with an incredible 49 goals scored in a three day period. AFC Macclesfield Reserves kicked the week's fixtures off with a 3-0 win away at Wythenshawe Town's Development Side thanks to goals from Lee Quinlan, Anthony Mape and Lee McIntyre. Pilkington Reserves beat Moore United Reserves 2-1 in a closely fought game where a late goal from Moore United's Matthew Arnold wasn't enough to keep them from losing the game. FC St Helens Reserves fell short away at Golborne as they lost 3-1 to the home side on the day.

The later game on Thursday night saw Middlewich Town Reserves take on Grappenhall Sports Reserves. The home side took the spoils in a 4-0 thrashing. Saturday saw over 30 goals as two games contained an astonishing 8 goals each and one giving us 9 goals.

Eight of those nine goals went the way of Mersey Valley Reserves as they gave Grappenhall Sports Reserves their second heavy defeat of the week in a game that finished 8-1. The games between Malpas and St Helens, and Wythenshawe and Golborne Sports, both contained eight goals each. The latter giving Wythenshawe their first win of the season as they managed to pick up a 5-3 victory. AFC Macclesfield continued their fine run of form as they beat Moore United 3-2 to leave themselves a point behind Middlewich with a game in hand. Middlewich dropped points this weekend as they were unable to pick up a victory against Pilkington.
